The Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) is issued by the Deputy Commissioner of the District as per the Guidelines, Procedures, and Time limit decided by the Government of Assam. In this article, we will provide information on how to apply for the PRC in Assam, the Status, and Documents Required.

The Permanent Residence Certificate is issued by the Deputy Commissioner of the District as per the guidelines, procedures, and time limit. The permanent residence certificate is used for admission to an educational institution. The certificate of permanent residence is proof of permanent residence of a person in Assam state. 

PRC in Assam is used to take Admission in educational institutions in higher education courses of the State. This Document is Mandatory for online admission. it will be applicable only in respect of the specific requirement of admission to that specific institution and shall not be valid for any other purpose.

Assam PRC Certificate Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be an Indian Citizen.
  • Parents or forefather of the applicant have permanent residence in the state of Assam for a minimum of 50 years.
  • Applicant must be residing in the state of Assam for a minimum 20 years.
  • If any applicant fulfills all the above eligibility criteria, they can also apply for his/ her child.

Assam PRC Certificate Documents Required

  • Copy of the Birth Certificate issued by the competent authority
  • Upload One Address proof documents of Self or Parent’s–Aadhaar Card/ Voter Card / Ration Card /Electricity Bill/LPG Bill/Passport/Bank Passbook/Driving License
  • Documents related to parents and forefathers having continuously resided in Assam for a minimum period of 50 years or Documents related to a guardian having continuously resided in Assam for a minimum period of 20 years.
  • Records of Immovable Property, if any, with up-to-date Land Revenue Paid receipt.
  • A certified copy of the voters’ list to check the linkage
  • Copy of HSLC Certificate/Admit Card
  • Passport-size photograph

 PRC Certificate Online Apply in Assam

  1. Visit the Official Website of the Seva Setu Portal.
  2. If the applicant is a first-time user, he/she need to click the Register Tab provided in the top right corner of the Seva Setu homepage and then get registered with the necessary fields such as Full Name, Mobile No.., Email ID, State, and Password.
  3. Then the applicant needs to log in with the credentials by clicking the Login Tab.
  4. After the applicant has logged on to the system, he/she need to click the Apply Online tab and select Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC)
  5. The applicant has to fill up the form and upload the required supporting documents.
  6. After successful submission of the form, an acknowledgement will be generated containing the application reference number. 
  7. An applicant can view and track the status of the application by clicking the Track button and entering the applicant’s application reference number.
  8. If all processes are correct than a date is assigned for Physical inspection. The applicant will get notified about the inspection details over SMS and Email.
  9. After successful submission of documents, the APPLICATION FORM FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCE CERTIFICATE FOR HIGHER EDUCATION will be generated, and the applicant can download it.

How to apply for PRC in Assam?

An applicant/citizen will visit the nearest Common Service Center(CSC)/PFC in DC/SDO(C)/CO office with all the relevant documents or apply using the Seva Setu Portal.
